OREANDA-NEWS. Reinstating its continued commitment to the communities, the Ford team in Sanand supported the enhancement of a community health center close to the Sanand Vehicle Assembly and Engine Plant. As part of the project, the existing operation theater and patient wards were upgraded with advanced surgical equipment and facilities, making post-surgical recovery easier for patients.

“We are extremely thankful to Ford for supporting us with upgrading this center, which helps us serve the community more effectively,” said Dr. Shivpal Singh Vaghela, superintendent surgeon, Sanand Community Health Center. “We see a minimum of 2,500 patients and at least 35-40 childbirths every month. With the improved facilities, the quality of surgeries we perform has improved. More importantly, the upgrade helps us cater to more patients.”

Undertaken in association with Ahmedabad Heritage Round Table, the health care center serves a population of nearly 250,000 people from 100 neighboring villages.

“Access to quality medical services is critical for the people in and around the village of Sanand, and we are extremely happy to have supported the enhancement of this center, which as a result, now benefits more people,” said Kel Kearns, site plant manager, Sanand Vehicle Assembly and Engine Plant. “We are proud of all the Ford leaders and champions, who have stayed actively engaged in this project and ensured that we make an ongoing difference to the community.”

In Chennai, Ford India has been supporting Sanjeevi, a primary health care center near the plant for close to 15 years. Over the years, the center has provided near-free medical care to more than 400,000 people in surrounding villages. The center also organizes various awareness camps, to reach out to the community and volunteers from Ford participate in these camps.
