OREANDA-NEWS. Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) received the Company of the Year award at the Society of Hispanic Professionals (SHPE) conference held this weekend in Baltimore. The award recognized Northrop Grumman for its long term commitment to SHPE's mission and goals, efforts to enhance the achievements of Hispanics in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), and its partnerships with public schools.

Northrop Grumman also received the SHPE Excellence in Collaboration award for the strong working relationships the company has established with SHPE and its members.

SHPE's mission is to change lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development.

Northrop Grumman supports SHPE in many ways including their Noches de Ciencias (Science Nights) K-12 Outreach program, summer internships and college scholarships, and through the recruitment of SHPE college members. The company is involved with the Hispanic community and professionals in other areas including the support of the Hispanic Engineer National Achievements Awards Conference; through its very active Hispanic employee resource group, Adelante; and support to the Great Minds in STEM program, which introduces under-served, Hispanic middle school students to technology careers through Viva Technology programs.
