OREANDA-NEWS. "If the traditional partners of Turkey apply sanctions against it, that is cease to supply grain, Ukraine is ready to increase delivery of grain, corn and oil at least twofold. Turkey is a longtime and reliable partner of Ukraine, we are ready to act as a guarantor of food security of the country", said Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olexii Pavlenko.

According to him, whatever the decision of the Russian side, it should not affect the food security of Turkey. Ukraine has sufficient amount of products of appropriate quality, to meet the needs of Turkish consumers in case export restrictions are introduced by the Russian Federation.

Moreover, Olexii Pavlenko drew attention to the fact that over 10 months of the current year Ukraine had already exported to Turkey goods to the tune of nearly USD566 million, among which grain makes up over USD55 million and oil almost USD75 million. In case of the introduction by Russian of food embargo against Turkey, Ukraine can significantly multiply the aforesaid showings by growing the supplies of agricultural products.

"However, presently it is rather early to talk about changes in trade turnover between Turkey and Ukraine, but we are resolute to deepen bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector. The expansion and diversification of the export market remains a priority for Ukraine, while Turkey remains a promising trading partner," summed up Minister Olexii Pavlenko.
