OREANDA-NEWS. December 03, 2015. BNY Mellon has received a Silver Award from the Ministry of Defence in the UK in recognition for the company’s outstanding support to defence.

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme was launched by the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, in July 2014. The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the armed forces corporate covenant.

BNY Mellon was one of 18 businesses which were recently invited by the Ministry of Defence to RAF Northolt to receive the award.

Julian Brazier TD MP, Minister for Reserves, welcomed the employers to RAF Northolt and said: “It is wonderful to see so many organisations representing private and public sector excellence supporting the Armed Forces.

“It is really important for Reservists to know they have supportive employers, and for Service spouses and veterans to know that they too, have the support of their employers.”

We asked Joanna Symes, EMEA Head of Diversity & Inclusion, how BNY Mellon is supporting Armed Forces veterans in the UK.  Read what she said here.
