OREANDA-NEWS. The Chairman of the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sanalla met Eni’s CEO, Claudio Descalzi in Rome.

The meeting focused on the outlook for development of the oil sector in Libya. It was an opportunity to further enhance the excellent relations developed between the two companies, who are linked by a historic partnership that makes Eni the largest foreign producer of hydrocarbons in all regions of Libya.

During the meeting, they also discussed of the general situation in the Country, expressing their satisfaction for the recent signing of the agreement promoted by the United Nations, which will facilitate the process of stabilization in Libya.

"In Libya, the National Oil Corporation, which role is recognized by the international community, has always been our primary interlocutor" said Claudio Descalzi. "Libya’s NOC made a huge effort to maintain the country’s unity. It succeeded in supporting and developing the energy sector in Libya in a very difficult period. For this reason, we want to recognise the professionalism and operational commitment and sacrifice that the NOC was able to exhibit during the recent complex and profound transformation of the country".

Mustafa Sanalla stated: "NOC has worked very hard to protect the mineral resources of the State for the benefits of all the Libyan people, despite the instability. I am very pleased that the collaboration with such an important partner as Eni continues without interruption".

Eni has been present in Libya since 1959 and currently produces over 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the country.
