OREANDA-NEWS. At the end of 2015 sales of Nokian Tyres in Russia in Euro decreased by 34.8% compared to 2014 and they were 237 million euros. The decline in sales is mainly due to the weakening of the national currency against the euro, informed the press service of the Nokian Tyres in Russia.

Sales in Russia in 2015 decreased obviously compared with the previous year. Nokian Tyres share in the market of winter tires (sell-in - sales to distributors, units) decreased due to increasing of consumer preference for low-price segments and brands, which was aided by weak purchasing power as well as aggressive pricing of some competitors. Nokian Tyres share in sales to the final consumer (sell-out) remained unchanged. Sales in the euro obviously decreased also due to the ruble devaluation. The increase in prices at the beginning of 2015 did not fully offset the subsequent fall of the national currency.

Sales of winter tires to the final consumer (sell-out) in 2015 (in the whole market, including Nokian Tyres products) were very weak, due to belated winter in most regions of Russia. As a result, distributors have formed a large stock on products that will have a negative impact on winter tire sales in 2016.

At the same time, the Nokian Tyres group has retained the leading market position in the premium segment. The company also became the market leader in the premium summer tires and the average segment. The greatest growth is observed in the segment of summer tires for SUVs and high-speed tires.

According to a survey, conducted by the agency "AUTOSTAT" in December of 2015, the most recognizable brand of tires became Nokian.
