OREANDA-NEWS. Ford Motor Company of Sub-Saharan Africa and Mechanical Lloyd, the Ford distributor in Ghana, have launched a new Ford dealership in Takoradi to cater for the growing number of customers in Ghana’s western and central regions.

“Takoradi is the third most important metropolis in Ghana in terms of industrialization and contribution to economic activity, so it’s crucial that we have a Ford dealer in this region to service our growing number of customers,” says Rob Johnston, Regional Manager Sales and Marketing, Ford Customer Services Division for Sub-Saharan Africa.

“The new vehicle industry in Ghana was up 5.5% from 2014 and Ford also improved sales during the period which is very encouraging,” Johnston added.

The new Takoradi facility, which joins the existing Ford dealership in Ghana’s capital city, Accra, provides vehicle sales, servicing and parts, and carries the full line-up of Ford models.

“Our new dealership in Takoradi is ideally placed to take advantage of the dynamic economic growth in the western and central regions of Ghana,” says Charles Zwennes, Board Chairman of Mechanical Lloyd.

“As an industrial and commercial centre, it has great potential for our business and Ford sales in the region, especially considering its close proximity to the large mining towns such as Tarkwa in western Ghana.

Ford’s passenger car line-up in Ghana includes the Ford Fiesta, Figo, Focus, Taurus and the exciting new Mustang. On the sport utility vehicle front, the range starts off with the compact EcoSport, the sophisticated Edge, Escape, Everest, Expedition and the range-topping Explorer.

Truck customers have the option of two award-winning contenders – the impressive Ford Ranger and the mighty F150.
