OREANDA-NEWS. A 24-hour strike in France from 21:00 CET (20:00 GMT) today will probably curb available power supply. The industrial action ends at 21:00 CET tomorrow.

This will be the sixth energy sector strike in France since the start of November. The previous industrial action, just three weeks ago, reduced the country's power production by nearly 10GW.

A general three-day strike on 8-10 March has been organised by France's largest trade unions — FO, CGT, CFE-CGC and CFDT — in protest against labour law reform and the reorganisation of the French energy sector.

The unions claim that the French government's policies will harm employees' and pensioners' rights and will put at risk the existing French energy model, including the role of state-controlled utility EdF.
