OREANDA-NEWS. MegaFon has appointed Pavel Korchagin as Director of its Northwest Branch.

Previously Pavel Korchagin served as Director of the Volga Branch of MegaFon. Under his leadership, the company managed to retain its leading position in the region and maintain revenue growth levels. A major modernization of equipment in the Samara and Penza regions and the Republic of Mordovia was carried out, as well as major successful projects to provide communications services for the BRICS and SCO summits in Ufa. MegaFon also became the first Big Three operator to launch an LTE Advanced network in Samara.

In his new role Pavel Korchagin will continue to develop the company’s business. His main priority will be further increasing profitability and strengthening the Northwest Branch’s leading position on the telecommunications market.

“We will continue to pay significant attention to the quality of our offerings, develop our network and keep track of service quality and the effectiveness of the operations of all the branch’s departments. I hope that my experience will help achieve new successes in the Northwest region and ensure even higher quality mobile services for all subscribers, including corporate clients,” Pavel Korchagin said.

Pavel Korchagin joined MegaFon in 2003. He began as Technical Director at Mobicom-Center (MegaFon-Center) and in April 2007 was appointed First Deputy CEO. Following a reorganization of the company, he served from 1 July 2009 as First Deputy Director of the Central Branch of MegaFon. Under his management coverage was launched within very short timeframes in seven regions, with a strong team of technical specialists being created in each of them. With Pavel Korchagin’s direct involvement, the branch became number two by market share and revenue in its region and MegaFon expanded its range of frequencies in the 900 and 1800 MHz bands for active development of quality mobile coverage and internet.

Pavel Korchagin was born in Dubovka in the Volgograd region. In 1986 he graduated from the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, where he majored in automated systems, and later, in 1998, from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. After graduating he worked as an engineer and research scientist at the Scientific and Research Institute for Special Purpose Mechanical Engineering in Moscow and later as head of the IT and automated banking operations department at Sberbank (in Volgograd).
