OREANDA-NEWS. Czech carmaker Skoda in the coming years will strengthen its position in the important segment of the SUV-car class with the support of new models. Brand will present a serial model of full-size SUV already this autumn at the Paris Motor Show.

Recall that in early March of 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show there was world premiere of the concept SUV-Skoda VisionS. On the sample of the concept it was demonstrated the new design elements of future SUV-models and there were also used key technologies, which Skoda will develop in the coming years, by focusing on electric drive, vehicle connectivity with external devices and auxiliary systems of safety and comfort.

"Now we begin the next stage of the model campaign: in the second half of the year we will expand the presence in the SUV segment, by launching the car, which will occupy a niche above the Skoda Yeti”, - said the chairman of the board of directors of Skoda, Bernhard Maier.

With the length of the wheelbase of 2.79 m, the length of the body Skoda VISIONS is 4.7 meters, width is 1.91 m and height is 1.68 m. This is the first Skoda model on the MQB modular platform, which is offering three rows of seats. Under the bonnet of the concept there is a modern hybrid propulsion system with a Plug-in technology: the show car with a capacity of 225 hp accelerates to 100 km / h in 7.4 seconds, top speed of 200 km / h. Fuel consumption is only 1.9 liters per 100 kilometers (CO2 emissions - 45 g / km). Skoda VisionS can overcome up to 50 km on electricity without recharging and up to 1 000 km with a combination of electric aggregate and fuel system.

The model is equipped with an internal combustion engine 1,4 TSI with a capacity of 156 hp with a torque of 250 Nm, which operates in conjunction with an electric motor (54 hp, maximum torque 220 Nm). The engine is combined with a 6-speed gearbox DSG, the transmission of torque to the front wheels. The second electric engine with a power up to 115 hp with a torque of 270 Nm leads the rear axle in motion. The front and rear axles are controlled independently from each other, so the show car is equipped with intelligent all-wheel drive system that doesn’t require mechanical clutch. All three engines are connected: driver of Skoda VisionS can select the mode by switching from electric traction to the charging mode that allows you to achieve maximum efficiency. Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 12.4 kWh is located in front of the rear axle.
