Consumers Energy has named Shaun Johnson as vice president and deputy general counsel, reporting to Catherine Reynolds, senior vice president and general counsel, effective April 18, 2016. Johnson's primary responsibilities will be overseeing the litigation, general practice and federal energy regulatory practice groups and providing legal oversight for business development activities.

Johnson formerly served as director of the energy industry group for the law firm Dykema Gossett PLLC, specializing in public utilities, energy and taxation.  He represented several public utility and energy clients throughout the United States, and assisted clients in developing cost-effective business strategies and goals. 

Johnson has a bachelor's degree from Saginaw Valley State University and law degree from Michigan State University. He was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 2005 and is a member of the Federal Energy Bar Association.

Consumers Energy, Michigan's largest utility, is the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy (NYSE: CMS), providing natural gas and electricity to 6.7 million of the state's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
