OREANDA-NEWS. In Saint Petersburg the LUKOIL delegation took part in the discussion on maritime planning within the 17th International Environmental Forum "Baltic Sea Day". Representatives of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, international organizations such as HELCOM and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) contributed to the discussion.

LUKOIL shared its experience of implementing the zero discharge principle at offshore facilities. The principle implies that all production and domestic waste is collected into sealed containers and transported onshore for further recycling and utilization. The issue is described in the brochure "Zero Discharge - Clean Sea" presented by the Company.

The environmental standards used by LUKOIL in offshore projects were taken as the basis for the HELCOM recommendations for the countries operating at the Baltic shelf.
