OREANDA-NEWS. Textese, otherwise known as the SMS language, is named the official language for all Telenor Group communication, globally.

The language made popular in online chat rooms, SMS and social media is becoming standard practice for global telecommunications provider Telenor. Represented in 13 countries, Telenor sees Textese as the most universal language among its multinational employees.

“In Telenor, we have a strong people-centric culture. We believe in collaboration and we see that these things can be better achieved with a universal corporate language that helps employees express themselves as efficiently as possible,” says CEO Sigve Brekke.

Emojis and emoticons are also encouraged, to help Telenor employees better express their emotions. For especially emotionally-charged emails, company policy states that 50% emoji content is required.
