OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2016. The ARGE Fahrrad, the Austrian bicycle industry’s largest organisation of manufacturers and dealers, has gained in Bosch eBike Systems a prominent new member. By joining the organisation the Bosch technology group’s product division has underscored its commitment to sustainable mobility.

Austria: dynamic development of eBike sales
According to Austrian sporting goods producer and sporting equipment supplier association there were already more than 200,000 eBikes in Austria at the beginning of 2015, and in 2014 alone 50,000 new eBikes were sold, earning sales revenue of around EUR 100 million. Market figures for 2015 are not available yet, but current statements by leading sports article retailers indicate that eBike sales are continuing to develop very dynamically and that eBike sales are likely to have increased significantly as a proportion of overall bicycle sales in Austria. Bosch’s forecast is that in the medium term one newly sold bicycle in three in Central Europe will be an eBike.

Commitment to sustainable mobility
As a new member Bosch eBike Systems supports the ARGE Fahrrad in its commitment. “Together with other industry leaders we are strongly in favour of a modern bicycle policy. eBikes are an affordable, ecologically sensible and at the same time fascinating mobility solution. To ensure lasting success of eBikes we especially need an intelligent bicycle infrastructure,” says Tamara Winograd, Press spokesperson for Bosch eBike Systems.
