OREANDA-NEWS. SOCAR awards new scholarship for the students of Baku Talent Education Complex (BTEC), who achieve success in education and performance in 2016-2017 academic year. The scholarship will be granted once a year in the amount of 50%, 70% and 100% of annual tuition fee based upon academic characteristics of the students. Adhering to the tradition of social responsibility, SOCAR carries out various projects towards social welfare of Azerbaijani people and gives permanent support to the education projects for converting oil revenues into human capital. SOCAR has financed construction and renovation of many schools in Baku and the regions in recent years. The company organizes education and training centers to improve labor skills and train highly qualified personnel. SOCAR implements both internal and international scholarship programs to encourage young talents and give them opportunity to get education at the world’s leading universities. SOCAR’s Summer School allows them to share experiences and skills. The company also supports public initiatives of Azerbaijani students abroad and contributes to the work of student organizations like Azerbaijan Student Network.

BTEC is a new, non-profit education initiative owned by Azerbaijan International Education Centre (AIEC) and sponsored by SOCAR. BTEC was established as a British School in 2012. There are 100 teachers and assistants in the school and a number of students had grown to 640 by September 2015.
