OREANDA-NEWS. Russian dealers of Lexus in the first quarter of 2016 sold 4937 cars, which is more by 23% compared to the same period of last year. Lexus brand's market share in the Russian market was 1.5% (+ 0.5%), and in the premium segment the Japanese brand increased its share by 3.5 percentage points, by taking 13.2%.

Best-selling car of Lexus in Russia for the first quarter of 2016 was the premium crossover RX, whose sales were 1,531 units (+ 157.7%). In the second place there was the compact premium crossover NX with 1360 of sold cars (-39%). The full-size premium SUV LX closes the Top-three, whose result was 1,349 units (+ 232%).

It is worth noting that by the results of the first quarter of 2016 the new cars of brand - ES business-sedan, crossover RX and flagship SUV the LX - strengthened position in their segments. Compared with the same period of the last year, the share of ES grew by 7% to 13%, the share of RX – by 7% to 14%, the share of the LX – by 11% to 19%.

In March of this year, two crossovers of Lexus became leaders in their segments: the crossover NX took the leading position in the segment of D-SUV-Premium with a share of 26%, while the premium crossover RX became the leader of the segment E-SUV-Premium with a share of 17%. Also in March, the share of LX reached a historic record - 24%.

According to Managing Director of Sales and Marketing of Lexus, John Thomson, high performance of brand can be explained by the great interest of buyers to the fourth generation of Lexus RX premium crossover, whose sales were started in December of 2015. "Since the beginning of 2016 the model became the best-selling brand and the number of sold crossovers reached a record in February and by the results of the first two months of 2016. Customer-oriented approach and attractive offers for the purchase of cars Lexus in February and March of this year have increased the interest of Russian buyers to the brand Lexus”, - he noted.
