AstraZeneca Plans to Apply for Vaccine Registration in Russia
“We are going to apply for registration when we have data on the results of a study on the combined use of the AstraZeneca and Sputnik Light vaccines,” a company spokesman said.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, said that the production of foreign vaccines against coronavirus infection in Russia would be possible if there is social and economic expediency in this. According to him, the final decision lies with the Ministry of Health. However, if the industry faces such a task, it will definitely be possible to implement such a task.
AstraZeneca is already produced in Russia, but these products are intended exclusively for export.
More than 6 thousand Russians traveled abroad to be vaccinated against coronavirus with foreign drugs; in total, about 310 million rubles were spent on such tours. According to statistics from tour operators, mostly Russians prefer to be vaccinated abroad with a single Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Among the countries for vaccination, Croatia is in the greatest demand among Russian citizens, since there you can get vaccinated with various drugs for free - Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca. Serbia was in second place in popularity (Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sinopharm, followed by Bulgaria (Pfizer and one-component Johnson & Johnson).
