OREANDA-NEWSThe volume of industrial production in China in the first two months of this year decreased by 13.5%, against the growth of 6.9% over the same period last year. This is stated in a report published on Monday by the State Statistical Office of the PRC.

Compared to December 2019, industrial production decreased by 26.63%. In the manufacturing industry, this indicator decreased in annual terms by 15.7%, in the mining industry - by 6.5%. Among enterprises engaged in the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and water, activity decreased by 7.1%.

Among 41 types of industries in China, growth was recorded in only two: oil and gas production (2.1%) and tobacco production (6.9%). In the 39 remaining sectors of industry with negative dynamics, the largest decline was observed in the automotive sector (31.8%), in the production of equipment for rail, aerospace, sea and other transport (28.2%) and in the textile industry (27.2%).  At the end of 2019, China's industrial production grew at an annual rate of 5.7%.
