OREANDA-NEWS. At least eight people were killed by an oxygen machine explosion at a hospital in the southern Turkish city of Gaziantep, Anadolu news agency reported on Saturday, December 19.

The explosion occurred in the intensive care unit for patients in the hospital of Gaziantep University Hospital. The department treated patients with COVID-19.

The fire was eliminated in a short time. Eight patients died, another 14 were transferred to other hospitals.

The authorities opened an investigation into the incident.

On November 28, it was reported that three people were injured in a gas explosion in the Turkish capital Ankara. The incident took place in the Mamak quarter. The blast wave damaged four apartments and shattered windows in neighboring houses. A fire broke out immediately after the explosion, but the fire was extinguished.
