OREANDA-NEWS. "MegaFon" has launched a system that uses a DBMS (database management system) Tarantool developed Mail.Ru Group, to provide high performance stream processing information during automatic statistical data collection with million of sectors of base stations. Data collection with a view to their subsequent preservation and processing are produced in a mode close to real time.

With each sector of the base station going in the middle of several thousand parameters: the quality of communication, the number of dropped connections, the speed of the Internet, and various parameters that determine the technical health of the base station. Choice Tarantool for the project "MegaFon" was due to the fact that the DBMS is able to handle large amounts of data in memory and using storage on magnetic disks. Other industrial DBMS with this level of load can only work on SSD drives, which on average 8-10 times more expensive than magnetic disks.

The system will be used not only as one of the analytical tools but also for automatic network monitoring. Developed various application scenarios in order to improve the quality and reduce the costs of operating the ground infrastructure of the mobile operator. Among these scenarios create automatic applications for change of configuration of equipment in case of insufficient capacity or deterioration of the quality of communication in separate locations, as well as the prediction of the best time to perform regular maintenance of the base station.

"The introduction of Tarantool in "the Megaphone" – the result of long meticulous work of a large number of specialists from both sides. We are glad that MegaFon rated our product is appreciated. We are all stronger foothold in traditional industries: telecommunications, banking, retail, as well as in various areas of industry. With the development of Tarantool distribution of our solutions extends from the use in data centers to applications in the field of industrial Internet of things", – commented Denis Anikin, technical Director of mail and cloud services Mail.Ru Group.
