OREANDA-NEWS. The administration of WhatsApp has imposed restrictions on the distribution of frequently forwarded messages.

The company’s blog post says that due to the isolation measures due to the pandemic, billions of people around the world have lost the opportunity of personal meetings and use instant messengers. Because of this, WhatsApp usage has increased significantly.

“Last year we introduced users to the concept of messages that have been forwarded many times. These messages are labeled with double arrows to indicate they did not originate from a close contact. In effect, these messages are less personal compared to typical messages sent on WhatsApp. We are now introducing a limit so that these messages can only be forwarded to one chat at a time,” the company explained. It is also noted that the messenger is primarily a service for sending personal messages.
