OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2016. Power management company Eaton today announced it will welcome nearly 50 students to its Experience Centers around the country as part of Manufacturing Day, an effort to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Eaton, a manufacturer of power management products and equipment, is hosting events in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Peachtree City, Georgia, to give students the opportunity to connect with electrical industry experts, learn about the role of manufacturing and call attention to the many outstanding opportunities a career in manufacturing can provide.

“As a leading manufacturer invested in the future of the industry, Eaton is committed to helping train the next generation of skilled workers, from the engineers and production workers who build the products to the designers and electricians who design and install them,” said Dan Carnovale, manager, Power Systems Experience Center, Eaton. “Our Experience Centers around the world provide hands-on training in many application environments, helping reduce cost and lead times in manufacturing operations. We look forward to sharing these exciting technologies with the future workforce.”

Students from the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering will participate in a career panel, “What we look for when hiring electrical engineers,” with panelists from Eaton, the university and Duquesne Light Company. The panel will be followed by a tour of Eaton’s Power Systems Experience Center in Warrendale, Pennsylvania, including hands-on power management demonstrations.

In Peachtree City, interior design students from the Savannah College of Art and Design will participate in a lighting design training session at Eaton’s SOURCE Lighting Education Center. Students will also have the opportunity to tour Eaton’s Lighting Innovation Center to learn more about the development, testing and manufacturing of the fixtures behind the designs.

“Eaton’s SOURCE has set the benchmark for educational facilities in the lighting industry,” said Rebecca Hadley-Catter, LC, LEED AP, IES, IESNA, manager, SOURCE Lighting Education Center, Eaton. “We regularly welcome students to learn more about the science of lighting, and share with them the design and testing of our innovative products.”

Many universities visit the SOURCE facility each semester, allowing students to experience lighting at a whole new level, make side-by-side comparisons, and learn about which specific fixtures and technologies are appropriate for various applications.

Manufacturing Day is an annual national event executed at the local level and supported by thousands of manufacturers as they host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses, plant tours and presentations designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.
