OREANDA-NEWS. E.ON is the only German company in the “Multi and Water Utilities” sector to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices World and Europe. Only ten percent of the more than 2,500 publicly listed companies receive this honor. In many categories E.ON performed well above average, achieving much higher scores than last year.

For E.ON CEO Johannes Teyssen sustainability is a top management concern: “I am very proud of this result and I would like to thank all the colleagues who have helped make it possible. But we will not rest on our laurels. The realignment of our business and the new focus on renewable energies, energy networks and innovative customer solutions offers great opportunities to become more sustainable. We can make sustainability a more central part of our core business and in this way shape a new, sustainable energy world. We are preparing ourselves for the energy markets of the future and want to continually improve.”

What does sustainability mean for companies? A company is sustainable if it attaches the same level of importance to economic, ecological and social goals. The underlying idea here is that only this balance will make a stable and above all lasting commercial success possible. This is not just in the interest of the employees but also serves the interests of the investors and customers for whom sustainability aspects play an important role in their purchase decision. For them, this prestigious international index offers a good guide.
