OREANDA-NEWS. Bulgarian Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova announced that by the end of the year Sofia intends to halve the purchase of natural gas from Russia. Bulgaria will begin to receive fuel from other sources, including the United States.

“As for natural gas, our country will continue to diversify its sources and routes,” the minister explained. She added that by the end of 2020, 50 % of gas consumption in Bulgaria will be diversified with the help of supplies from Azerbaijan and using liquid natural gas (LNG). According to Interfax news agency, Petkova made this statement after a working visit to the United States of America where she met with her colleagues from the US Department of Energy and representatives of the American LNG industry.
