OREANDA-NEWS The crew of a Russian Ka-27 deck helicopter destroyed a Ukrainian drifting mine in the Black Sea, the Defense Ministry said.
"The patrol ship "Sergey Kotov" of the Black Sea Fleet, performing tasks in the southwestern part of the Black Sea, 180 kilometers northeast of the Bosphorus Strait, a thwarted drifting Ukrainian mine was found," the ministry said.
Earlier this week, the command of the Black Sea Fleet issued a warning to all seafarers in the northwestern part of the Black Sea due to the discovery of a Ukrainian uncontrolled drifting mine. It was clarified that the mine was exposed by the Ukrainian Navy "at the beginning of 2022 during the indiscriminate mining of the coastal waters." Such actions in the Ministry of Defense were called unprofessional and irresponsible, they led to the fact that today an unknown number of mines are drifting in the Black Sea.
