OREANDA-NEWS Gazprom has filed a lawsuit with the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region to recover more than $ 900 million from the Polish concern Orlen and the operator of the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline, Europol Gaz, follows from the file on the court's website.

The Russian company demands $ 710 million from the defendants and about 886 million Polish zlotys (approximately $ 223 million).

Europol Gaz was a joint venture between Gazprom and Orlen, the Russian company owned a 48 percent stake. In April 2022, Poland added Gazprom to the sanctions list and blocked its assets. In response, Russia took restrictive measures against Europol Gaz, and Gazprom stopped supplies via Yamal—Europa.

In May 2023, Europol Gaz applied to arbitration at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce with a claim against Gazprom for six billion zlotys (about $ 1.4 billion) due to debt for gas transportation and "lost profits" as a result of the termination of supplies.
