OREANDA-NEWS. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called Russia's decision to convert payments for gas into rubles a problem for the world. He said this in an interview with RTV Pink.

Another big problem, the Serbian leader called the rise in prices for oil and gas in Europe.

“Some people think it's brilliant in a geopolitical game to counter the petrodollar [ruble] along with the yuan. The Germans have already said that this is the reason for terminating the treaty. I’m not sure about this, all this brings us new and new problems, ”Vucic expressed his opinion.

He also expressed concern that neighboring Hungary, which was included in the list of countries unfriendly to Russia, would not be able to pay for gas in rubles. The Serbian President stressed that many small countries in Europe, which do not have their own gas and oil, are completely dependent on imports, and for most of them, Moscow's decision "will be unbearable."

On March 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the Cabinet of Ministers, announced that the sale of natural gas and other exports from Russia to European countries and the United States would soon be converted into rubles. At the same time, the head of state stressed that Russia would continue to supply natural gas in accordance with the volumes and prices that were fixed in previously concluded contracts.

To implement his order, Putin turned to the Bank of Russia and the government, asking them to determine the procedure for financial transactions with Europe in rubles within one week. Putin also instructed to give Gazprom a directive on the speedy transfer of all contracts for gas supplies in rubles.
