Registration is now open for the Project Management in Development course being offered by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in French through edX, the largest educational platform in the world (founded by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)). The course is free and begins on September 6th.

Over the last few years the IDB has worked with Haiti in completing approximately 530 projects, contributing to the transformation of the following sectors: education, private sector development, energy (particularly electricity), water and sanitation, agriculture and transport.

In order to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of development projects, the IDB has created a methodology that adapts to projects within the public sector with international standards in project management and helps to resolve bottlenecks that arise in project planning and management.

This French Massive Online Open Course (MOOC), previously offered in English and Spanish, provides concepts and tools to strengthen participants’ capabilities in project management for development in order to better meet project objectives.

Project Management in Development is aimed at professionals from the private sector, civil servants and university students interested in improving the implementation of their projects and in better meeting the community’s anticipated results in a timely manner.

During this five-week course, students will reflect on issues related to project management, including:

  • Basic project management concepts and techniques
  • Tools and key tactics that facilitate good communication
  • Project management international standards and tools
  • How to identify success factors based on experiences?

The course will use the most current data and information, and will incorporate international specialists videos , knowledge activities, examples of experiences in the region, discussion forums, an updated bibliography and case study accompanied by practical exercises.
