OREANDA-NEWS. July 19, 2016. Security Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York has announced the election of Carol Baldwin Moody, J.D. to its Board of Directors. Ms. Moody is an accomplished attorney and industry leader with more than 30 years of domestic and global legal, compliance and management experience in diverse aspects of the financial services industry.

Ms. Moody is principal of CAB Moody, LLC, a firm she founded in January 2015 to create and implement compliance and risk management programs, as well as to advise insurance companies and other financial institutions regarding complex and emerging risks.

Prior to founding CAB Moody, LLC, Ms. Moody served CalPERS (California Public Employees’ Retirement System) as Senior Portfolio Manager, Investment Compliance and Operational Risk. Her career with CalPERS also included serving as the organization’s Acting Chief Operating Investment Officer.

Ms. Moody’s extensive experience in the financial services industry includes serving as Senior Vice President, Chief Risk Officer of Wilmington Trust Company; Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer of Nationwide Insurance; and Chief Compliance Officer of TIAA-CREF. She also served as Head of Compliance, Global Relationship Banking at Citibank, NA.

A longtime advocate for education, mentoring and economic empowerment, Ms. Moody currently serves on the Board of Legal Momentum, The Women’s Legal Defense and Educational Fund. She is a member of the Executive Leadership Council; the Council on Foreign Relations; Practicing Attorneys for Law Students, Mentor; and The James Brister Society of the University of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Moody earned her J.D. degree from the Columbia University School of Law, after graduating cum laude with a B.S.E. in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
