According to the ministry, in July Russia increased nickel supplies to Brazil by 2.2 times compared to June - up to $ 11.1 million. This was the highest level since May 2005, when imports of Russian nickel reached $ 1.15 million.

In absolute terms, Brazil's imports of Russian nickel increased 2.3 times to 435.9 tons of nickel, which is the largest supply since July 2019.

Russia was the main source of nickel for Brazil in July. Norway is in second place with $10.4 million in supplies, and the United States is in third place ($7.3 million). The top five also includes Germany ($4.7 million) and South Africa ($3 million).

At the same time, for seven months of this year, the main importer of nickel to Brazil was the United States, which supplied $ 48.3 million worth of metal against $ 36.9 million in 2022 and displaced Norway from the first place ($44.7 million against $ 61.7 million a year earlier). Russia, which increased supplies in January-July by 2.5 times, to $ 28.8 million, closes the top three, although it was sixth a year ago.
