OREANDA-NEWS  Buying red caviar before Maslenitsa has become more expensive for Russians, and the demand for it cannot be called high, despite the traditional holiday, follows from the materials of the analytical resource "Check Index" of the company "Platform OFD".

Maslenitsa in 2023 takes place in Russia from February 20 to 26, in 2022 these holidays fell a week later - from February 28 to March 6. The assessment was carried out on the basis of both online and offline sales - in traditional trade and online retail in the period from February 1 to February 10 in 2022 and 2023. The OFD Platform processes 50-55 million cash receipts daily from more than 1.1 million online cash registers in the Russian Federation.

"Now red caviar in packages of 300 grams is in the top shopping list. Most often, Russians buy pink salmon caviar," the company said, commenting on the demand for these products before Shrovetide. Thus, the average receipt for the purchase of pink salmon caviar increased by 9% in annual terms, to 1,103 rubles, and the number of purchases itself decreased by almost a third (by 30%).
