In Russia, sales of devices for the "smart" home have increased significantly

OREANDA-NEWS The popularity of devices for the "smart" home continues to grow - sales of smart gadgets for security in January-March of this year increased in the group "M.Video-Eldorado" by 1.5 times compared to the same period last year, and speakers with a virtual assistant - by 2.2 times.
"In January-March 2023, sales of smart devices for security and automation of household tasks increased 1.5 times compared to last year and more than doubled compared to 2021. Interest in speakers with virtual assistants as the "center" of the entire ecosystem or an independent device has increased 2.2 times and tripled, respectively," they said. It is noted that the mass popularity of individual elements and integrated solutions for the organization of "smart" home space continues to increase in the Russian market. And the range of devices with various remote control formats is expanding at the expense of Russian and Chinese companies. In addition, according to the results of the first quarter in M.Video-Eldorado, the average receipt for such products decreased by 5% and amounted to about 1.4 thousand rubles. At the same time, the most popular smart products this year were light bulbs, sockets, IP cameras and control sensors.
"One of the drivers of the ecosystem is also the growing popularity of speakers with virtual assistants, relevant to a wide audience of users for different use cases due to Internet connection and virtual assistants, as well as opportunities for integration into a smart home and voice control of household appliances... The demand was largely influenced by the spring holidays and the popularity of such devices as a gift assortment," the company added.
According to Sergey Sukhorukov, the head of the Entertainment and Gadgets business unit of the group, the smart home system is already becoming a familiar part of life, making its routine processes more comfortable, more convenient and helping not to worry that the door is not closed or the faucet will leak at home. At the same time, devices are most often controlled via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or voice commands, and the choice of models with Zigbee protocol support is expanding.
