OREANDA-NEWS. A public meeting will take place on Thursday 14 July from 6:30pm at the Auditorium at The Cut, 8 New Cut, Halesworth, IP19 8BY.

The last public meeting was held in February, when Network Rail presented proposals to close the crossing owing to significant safety concerns. Since this meeting, further site surveys and risk assessments have been carried out. The results of the surveys and assessments will be discussed at the meeting, along with Network Rail’s plans for the crossing.

Richard Schofield, Network Rail’s route managing director for Anglia, said: “Our top priority is the safety of everyone using Halesworth station. We have considered feedback given to us at the last meeting and carried out further site surveys and risk assessments. I want to encourage the public to come to the meeting to understand and discuss with us the proposals that we will put forward.”

Network Rail owns, manages and develops Britain's railway - the 20,000 miles of track, 40,000 bridges and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations (the largest of which we also run). In partnership with train operators we help people take more than 1.65bn journeys by rail every year and move hundreds of millions of tonnes of freight, saving almost 8m lorry journeys. We employ 36,000 people across Britain and work round-the-clock, each and every day, to provide a safe, reliable railway.
