OREANDA-NEWS. Abertis has cemented its status as the only Spanish company in its sector, Transport Infrastructure, to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index 2016, which is published every year by RobecoSAM. For this edition, DJSI World invited 3,400 companies from developed and emerging markets to participate.

Once again, Abertis has scored above average in all three dimensions ranked: economic, environmental and social. The company has significantly improved its ranking in areas such as codes of conduct, environmental policy & management systems, corporate citizenship and talent attraction & retention.

This year there is a new analyzed criterion, the materiality, where Abertis places over the average of the sector. The aim of the new criterion is to identify the material questions, how the companies measure it and the level of transparency that the companies have when of informing about the topic the stakeholders.

This year, in the economic dimension, has taken in consideration specially the new Code of Conduct of Abertis. In 2016, the Group has continued reinforcing the good corporate government with the incorporation of two new independent directors in the Board of Directors, closing a process that has allowed reducing the size, to double the weight of the independent directors and to stimulate a women's major presence.

In the environmental dimension, Abertis stands out this year in environmental policy and management systems, being positioned by an index very superior to the average of the industry.
