OREANDA-NEWS  In 2024, the minimum cost of new foreign cars in Russia may increase from the current 2.8 to 3-3.2 million rubles. This was stated by auto expert Roman Soldatov. His words are quoted by the Izvestia newspaper.

According to the analyst, such dynamics will be influenced by a number of factors, including the exchange rate and an increase in the recycling fee. The new rates will lead to an average increase in the cost of new cars by 300 thousand rubles.

In addition, the upcoming increase in car prices will also be influenced by the desire of dealers to compensate for the profit lost due to discounts during the New Year holidays. "Everything that dealers threw off during the holidays now needs to be retrieved," the expert concluded.

Against this background, Soldatov admitted that the key driver of car sales growth in Russia this year will be used cars. In his opinion, prices for such vehicles will rise "uncritically". A foreign car in good condition will cost Russians 1.5-1.8 million rubles on average, the analyst concluded.

Car prices in Russia have been rising for several years. Earlier, Oleg Moseev, the head of the Automarketologist project, said that in January-November, the cost of cars in the domestic market increased by an average of 8-18 percent, depending on the brand and model. At the same time, Chinese cars occupied a key share (51-52 percent of the total number of cars sold) by that time.
