OREANDA-NEWS. In the south-west of the Czech Republic, near the town of Domazhice, two passenger trains collided, several dozen people were injured. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and the Ministry of Transport Karel Havlicek.

The collision occurred at about 8 am Wednesday (9 am Moscow time) in the section between Domažlice and Blizhevo.

According to him, the driver of one of the trains drove to the red signal of the semaphore.

The police said that the high-speed train Ex 351 Zapadni expres, which was heading from Ceske Kubice to Prague, collided with a passenger train traveling on the Pilsen-Domažlice route. Trains collided on the same railway track.

Emergency officers are working at the site of the train collision.

"About 50 people were injured. The situation is serious. I am going to the scene," Gavlicek said.

According to the representative of the Fire Department, Peter Pontzara, two were killed. 38 passengers were injured, seven of them are in critical condition.
"According to preliminary data, there are a large number of casualties at the site. Traffic on the line is interrupted. The railway inspection will investigate the causes and circumstances of the emergency," said Martin Drapal, a spokesman for the railway inspection.

Victim information is different. Czech television, citing rescuers, said at least 3 people were killed. Martin Casalo, a spokesman for the joint rescue and firefighters corps, confirmed 2 dead.

Three medical helicopters are involved, as well as a police aircraft.

At the hospital in Karlovy Vary, a so-called trauma plan was announced, which is introduced in case of emergency events when a large number of casualties are expected.
