OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin, in congratulating the Russian polar explorers, stressed that the Russian Federation is sincerely proud of the achievements of outstanding compatriots who devoted themselves to the study and development of the Arctic and Antarctic, the corresponding telegram was published on the Kremlin's website.

"I congratulate you on the holiday – Polar Explorer's Day. We are sincerely proud of the outstanding achievements of outstanding compatriots who devoted themselves to the study and development of the Arctic and Antarctic, who laid a reliable foundation for our scientific presence in these strategically important regions of the planet," the telegram says.

Putin emphasized that the traditions of hard, selfless work are continued with honor by the current generation of scientists and geologists, builders and oil workers, pilots and sailors, and representatives of other professions.

"Thanks to their highest competence, courage, and responsible approach to business, bold, large-scale programs are being successfully implemented in the circumpolar territories today. Modern scientific centers and research stations are being built, such as Snowflake in the Yamalo–Nenets Autonomous District, the Arctic Star interuniversity campus in Arkhangelsk, rich mineral deposits are being developed, including on the Russian continental shelf, great attention is being paid to the development of the Northern Sea Route," the message adds.

The Russian leader also stressed that a new wintering complex has been put into operation in Antarctica at the legendary Vostok station.

"And of course, I would like to highlight such a significant, sought-after initiative of polar explorers as the educational project "Meeting of Generations", designed to introduce young men and women to promising specialties for work in the Arctic and Antarctica, to help them choose their life and professional path," the telegram says.
