OREANDA-NEWS  According to the results of the first five months of 2023, the supply of computer equipment to the Russian market increased by 10 percent in physical terms. During this period, a total of 412.7 thousand units of servers, blade servers, system blocks, motherboards with an installed processor and barebone systems were imported into the country, Kommersant reports, citing data from analysts at F+ tech.

In monetary terms, the import of computer equipment amounted to 48.9 billion rubles, for the year the figure decreased by three percent. However, in physical terms, the increase was at the level of 10.2 percent and was largely due to the low base of 2022. At the same time, experts clarified that in the current conditions, there may be errors in any statistics on the import of servers and processors.

From January to May, 1.83 million storage devices were also delivered to Russia, including hard drives, solid-state drives and disk shelves with media. In this segment, the physical increase was much more noticeable (plus 48.9 percent). At the same time, in monetary terms, imports decreased by 19.1 percent year-on-year.

Earlier it was reported that Russian electronics manufacturers appealed to the government with a request to ban the parallel import of servers and data storage systems for the sake of maintaining competitiveness with foreign suppliers of computing equipment. At the same time, the companies offered the authorities to allow the import of components so that the final devices could be assembled on the domestic market.
