OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2011. On September 14 Head of Karelia Andrei Nelidov has held a regular session of the organizing committee on preparation of the International forum Investments Into the Future.

Let us remind, that the International forum will take place in Petrozavodsk on November 24 and will become the first event of this scale for the republic. The idea of the forum was suggested by the Government of Karelia and supported by the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.

At the session of the organizing committee Andrei Nelidov has emphasized, that on results of the forum Karelia may position itself in a new way among other regions of Russia: "This event is a milestone for us. This year it will be the most important for the Republic of Karelia." In the opinion of the Head of the region, success out of the international forum may demonstrate that the republic has matured into the region where life is developing dynamically and which is of interest to leaders of the state. "In the further it will give us strength and confidence of success," – Andrei Nelidov has mentioned.

Carrying out of the high-level forum will, first of all, let Karelia present its economic potential and involve large investors in implementation of new projects. Perspective projects in the field of development of tourism, forest and water resources conservation and reproduction, introduction of innovative technologies have been developed in detail in the Government of Karelia for the past year. As a tradition, specific agreements are signed with investors during such events. Karelian forum Investments Into the Future is called to introduce this tradition in our republic.

It is expected that high officials of the Russian state, heads of federal authorities, delegation of regions, representatives of large Russian business and foreign companies will take part in work of the forum.

At the session of the organizing committee various issues concerning preparation for the international forum were discussed. It takes a lot of spadework to draw the program, state the key participants, organize business negotiations and exhibition activities. However, as experience of other regions confirms, this work may result in large investments, new jobs and growth of the budget of the republic.

Valentin Luntsevich, Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia and Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia, is appointed responsible for preparation of the International forum Investments Into the Future.
