OREANDA-NEWS. April 4, 2008. President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law returning to Germany the stained-glass windows from the Marienkirche church in Frankfurt on the Oder that were taken to the Soviet Union in the aftermath of World War II.

The stained-glass windows, as unique examples of cultural heritage that formerly belonged to a religious organisation, are now being returned to Germany in accordance with Russian Federation legislation.

During all these years, the six stained-glass windows from the Marienkirche were kept at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow.
