OREANDA-NEWS. June 19, 2008. An audit of the universal ICAO program on carrying out organization of control over ensuring flight security started in Ukraine.

As the Transport and Communications Ministry press service informed, presentation of the audit assisted in having a rather detailed idea about activities of the State Aviation Administration, peculiarities of its functioning, legal base and interrelations with other sectors of the Transport and Communications Ministry.

In addition, expanded information was presented on the number of pilots of different qualification levels, as well as about aircrafts authorized for conveying hazardous substances.

As it was reported, since June 1, all Ukrainian planes should be equipped, in compliance with ICAO and JAROPS requirements, with equipment preventing from collision with other planes in the air (TCAS-II (ACAS-II) system).

In addition, aircrafts should be equipped with a system of anticipatory warning to a flight crew about approach of the land surface (EGPWS (TAWS) system), indicating a plane's location in case of emergency (ELT system).
