OREANDA-NEWS. July 11, 2008. The customs services of Belarus and Russia have to complete the development of 5 checkpoints on the border of the Union State, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Alexander Shpilevsky said at a joint session of the State Control Committee of Belarus and Audit Chamber of Russia in Minsk on July 11.

He noted that a lot has been done during the implementation of the programme of the immediate development of the infrastructure of the checkpoints on the territory of Belarus in 2002-2007. A new programme of the infrastructure development of checkpoints will be introduced for consideration in the nearest future.

The carrying capacity of the Belarusian checkpoints rose from 7 thousand to 20 thousand over the last years. The World Customs Organization (WCO) praised the organization of these checkpoints.

Alexander Shpilevsky drew the attention of the supervisory bodies of Russia to the bureaucratic obstacles which have to be overcome while coordinating different issues in the course of the implementation of the programme.
