OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2008. The glorious victory crowned the Turkemn wine-makers’ participation in IX International Contest of Wines and Strong Alcoholic Drinks Yalta. Golden Gryphon– 2008 in the Crimea. The Grand Gold Medal, four gold medals and the honorary title of the Best Wine of 2008 confirmed again the exceptional quality as well as high competitive capacity of the products of the wine-producing enterprises of the Food Industry Association of Turkmenistan

This prestigious contest brought a triumph to the Turkmen producers of ‘sunny drinks’: six of nine samples presented at the contest received the high awards. The title of the Best Wine of 2008 was awarded to wine Kopetdag produced at the Ahal winery and the Grand Gold Medal replenished the treasure of the honorary trophies of the Geokdepe winery for dry red wine Oguzkent that received the special diploma for design. White dessert wines Errikkala (Ashgabat winery), Sanly Diyar (Abadan winery), Altyn Jennet (Yoloten winery) and Sowgat (Ahal winery) received the gold medals.

65 wine-producing enterprises and companies including those from France, Moldova, Slovenia, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Russia, Uzbekistan contested with the Turkmen wine-makers for the highest awards in Yalta this year. The contest was organized by the Magarah National Institute of Vine and Wine Yalta), the Ukrainin Academy of Agrarian Sciences, the International Federation – the Union of CIS Wine Growers and Makers and the Wine Makers’ Union of the Crimea
