OREANDA-NEWS. August 11, 2008. Turkmenagro-2008 International Exhibition and Conference closed in Ashgabat.

The first international forum in the history of Turkmenistan’s agricultural sector brought together about 80 companies including about 50 foreign firms from 15 countries worldwide and agricultural scientists, specialists and experts.

During the three-day exposition the world-renowned companies and local producers, who applied the best international practice, displayed the products and innovations. The samples of a great variety of products – from foodstuff to modern agricultural machines were presented to numerous visitors and specialists.

For the foreign partners Turkmenagro-2008 became a splendid opportunity to demonstrate the achievements, learn the priorities of the development of Turkmenistan’s agricultural sector and specify the trends of co-operation. Many of the participants discovered our country, its profound economic potential.

The conference organized in the framework of Turkmenagro-2008 focused on the development of agricultural science, research and high technologies in agricultural production. Those speaking at the conference noted that studying the rich, ancient experience of the Turkmen people on plant growing and cattle raising, the achievements of the world agricultural science, the large-scale national programmes aimed at dynamical development of Turkmenistan’s agricultural sector, the favourable investment climate, the demand for ecologically pure products made the Turkmen market attractive for foreign business partners.

Over 100 reports vividly illustrated with the video materials were presented at the conference. D. S. Strebkov, A. A. Kudryashova and I. I. Kuzmin (Russia), Academician K. Elemesov (Kazakhstan), Professor V. M. Starodubtzev (Ukraine), Doctor of Biology A. Svitoyus (Lithuania), a scientist O. Ozturk (Turkey) and may others shared the achievements of agricultural science with Turkmen colleagues.

The ceremony of awarding the Turkmenagro-2008 winners was the culmination of the international forum. The winners were defined in the following categories: application of modern projects, technologies and innovations in industry, assistance in technology modernization of the enterprises in Turkmenistan, the best domestically manufactured product, the best design of exposition. On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan the winners received the gold, silver and bronze diplomas and the UQNET and ISO 9001certificates. The rest of the participants received the diplomas and certificates.

The Ashgabat forum vividly testified to the current importance of the agricultural reforms implemented in Turkmenistan, which provided the vast opportunities for international co-operation. In the framework of the exhibition and conference dozens of the companies, enterprises and organizations held the talks that would result in concluding new contracts and strengthening mutually advantageous contacts. The positive response drawn by Turkmenagro-2008 would serve as a powerful incentive to further develop agricultural sector.

The participants adopted the Address to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressing gratitude for the hospitality and high level of organization of the forum in the Turkmen land that had become an important step towards intensifying effective partnership meeting mutual interests and modern needs.
