OREANDA-NEWS. September 2, 2008. Russia has increased the number of Belarusian military granted Russian military education,  representatives of the Defence Education and Troops Training Department of the Belarusian Defence Ministry said.

The step is attributed to the expanding cooperation and implementation of joint measures for ensuring the operation of the regional Belarusian-Russian taskforce, the need to train specialists in maintenance and application of new Russia-made armaments and materiel Belarus is expected to get. Apart from that, due to some peculiarities military education in Belarus is economically unviable, said the source.

In 2008 Belarusian military will be sent as cadets to 16 higher educational establishments of Russia, including 7 educational establishments for the first time. Those are the Moscow Supreme Military Command College (specialisation “Application of motorized rifle units”), the Mozhaisky Military Space Academy (Saint Petersburg), the Military Aviation Engineering University (Voronezh, the specialisation “Metrological assurance of armaments and materiel”), the Nizhny Novgorod Supreme Engineer Troops College (“Application of engineer troops and operation of engineer armaments”), the Tambov Supreme Military Aviation Radio Electronics Engineering College (“Operation of radio aids for aviation flights”), Ulyanovsk Supreme Military Technical College (“Organisation of supply and utilisation of rocket fuel”), Yaroslavl Supreme Air Defence College (“Combat application of troops operating multiplex air defence systems S-300” and “Operation and repair of radio technical and launch guidance aids for air defence systems”).

Just like the previous year Belarusian cadets will be sent to the Cherepovets Military Radio Electronics Engineering College, the Ryazan Supreme Paratroopers College, the Military Railway Troops University, the Military Topography University, the Military Space Academy and the Military Engineering and Technical University (Saint Petersburg), the Military University (Moscow) and the Novosibirsk Supreme Military Command College.
