OREANDA-NEWS. On October 02, 2008 President Islam Karimov visited Tashkent region to familiarize himself with the socioeconomic reforms and changes in the agricultural sector, reported the Official website www.mtrk.uz.

The visit of the head of the state started with familiarization with the activities of a farm headed by Doniyar Rasulov in Yuqori-Chirchik district, which specializes in grain and cotton growing.

Islam Karimov drew the attention to the fact that in agriculture, one should not be limited by achievements, but should determine higher milestones and achieve higher success. In particular, it is important to improve soil fertility and increase crop yield. All of this ultimately aims to increase the welfare of the people, he said.

Rivers and canals in the district are being efficiently used in the irrigation of farmlands. Farmers have great opportunities in using fertilizers, fuel, bank loans and other services. All this is important in improving yields.

Talking to farmers, heads of districts and the region, the President drew their attention to further improvement of the productivity, as well as integration of science and industry.

“First of all, it is necessary to radically reconsider the practice of crop rotation,” said Islam Karimov. “In this field, specialists and scientists should help farmers and work with them side by side. Local research institutes should give concrete scientific and practical advice to farmers on which crops and in what sequence should be sown in certain areas, and which plants increase the soil fertility,” Islam Karimov said.

Currently, two sorts of cotton – Namangan-77 and C-65-24 – are sown in the district. The head of the country gave recommendations on creation and development of new sorts of cotton, suitable for the soil and climatic conditions of the region.

The regular meetings of the head of the state with rural citizens have become a good tradition. They are important in creating the opportunity to discuss and resolve existing problems. Islam Karimov was interested in what income the farmers received, and how the reforms in the country affected the lives and thinking of the people.

According to the chairman of Usmonobod makhalla Sharifa Salimova, peace and tranquility in the country, and the ongoing reforms are reflected in improved living levels. Currently, about 70 percent of the residents of the mahalla have their own cars. The recently reconstructed school, built in 1960s, became a good present for teachers and students, she said.

As in other regions of the country, free provision of livestock and allocation of bank loans for low-income families is being carried out. The President said activities in this direction should be expanded further. The main purpose is to ensure that every family has a cow, which means that each child will consume sufficient quantity of dairy products.

The President also talked to the farmers of Ashirmat Karimov farm of the Orta-Chirchik district, in which a total of 831 farms operate.

The reforms in agriculture provide the opportunity for the development of farmmers’ movement, establishment of modern production and market infrastructure, creation of the class of owners in villages, further increase of the incomes of rural residents. You can see an example Urtachirchikskogo district, where 831 farms.

“Farmers’ movement serves the interests of the people,” the head of the state said. “The farmer’s work is evaluated by the state of the land, contributed work and the volume of the grown crops. These factors form the basis of the progress in the agricultural sector.”

The Presidential Decree of 29 October 2007 “On measures to improve meliorate state of lands” set tasks for stable development of agricultural production, improvement of the lands and raising the yields.

“The meliorate state of our lands was not at the required level,” said head of Madoniz farm Shuhrat Ahmedov. “Problems in this area are being consistently solved.”

Islam Karimov stressed that Tashkent region occupied a special role in the economy of the country as a region with developed agriculture and industry.

The head of state visited the Mahmud Qosimov farm in Pskent district. Having sown grains on 52 hectares, the farmer received 62 centners of crop from each ehctare. According to head of the farm Mirvosit Mirmahmudov, the cotton harvest will also exceed the planned target.

In 2007, the farm employed 28 people. This year that number has doubled. The farm is currently sponsoring a boarding school and a kindergarten.

Speaking to farmers of the district, President Islam Karimov said the role of the farmers’ movement was increasing in the country. “Farmers are making a significant contribution not only in agriculture, but also in the improvement of villages, increase of industrial production in rural areas, and introduction of modern technologies.”

Farmers are organizing the work on a modern basis, and continuously increasing the productivity. Farmers are also actively involved in charitable activities, Islam Karimov said.
