OREANDA-NEWS. December 2, 2008. New Russian regulations adopted this week open up for a major facilitation of cross-border travel to Russia. More efficient cooperation between the border guards, customs, veterinary and transport authorities are to cuts lines and save time.

After having paid a visit to the Russian-Finnish border and headed a session in the federal Border Commission, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin last week signed a decree on increased control efficiency in the country’s border points.

The decree outlines enhances coordination between the border guard service, the customs, sanitary and veterinary authorities, as well as transport authorities, newspaper Rossiiskaya Gazeta reports.

Among the proposals is the establishment of a multi-function one-window principle for the handling of travellers.

The new regulations are to facilitate the minimization of time spent on control procedures, as well as avoid duplication of functions.
