OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2008. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the construction sites in the Turkmen capital and its suburbs to inspect the progress of the important projects implemented in the framework of the urban development programme.

As is known, on the initiative of the Turkmen leader a number of the important large-scale social facilities called upon to improve the standards of living in the country, to create the conditions for comfort and recreation of the people and guests of the Turkmen capital are under construction in Ashgabat. The President demanded that construction projects should be based on advanced technologies, engineering and architectural innovations, national architectural traditions and high environmental standards. 

The President’s cortege run along the new highway which connected Archabil Avenue and 10 Years of prosperity Avenue to the south of the city. This highway was built and improved by Turkmen road builders under the programme on transport infrastructure development. The President inspected the newly built road. There would be future modern buildings, public gardens and shady alleys on both sides of the highway in the near future.

Heading further to the south Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Gindivar. There an open-air exposition of the draft designs of further improvement of this picturesque place was presented to the Turkmen leader. These included the draft designs of the park and monument to the prominent son of the Turkmen people – an outstanding poet Magtymguly elaborated on the instructions of the Turkmen leader.

Upon thoroughly considering the draft designs the President suggested revising them. Providing some remarks and suggestions to the designers and architects Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the projects should be focused on the canons of landscape architecture and widely apply modern design elements.

The President approved in whole the draft design of the monument to Magtymguly and provided some substantial remarks to the designers. The Turkmen leader put emphasis on the necessity of taking a creative, innovative approach and carrying out thorough work on the image of the versatile poet whose name was enchased with golden letters in the history of national and world literature.

In conclusion Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the focus on the new, high life quality dictated the integrated approaches to implementation of the urban development programme. The President emphasized that the activity of all relevant organisations and agencies should be subject to this goal.
