OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2008. In the nearest future several movies jointly produced by Belarus and India may appear on the screen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Rajendra Kumar Tyagi said. As his diplomatic mission is coming to an end, the Ambassador visited Gomel and met with the authorities of the town.

According to the Ambassador, the cultural area is among the most interesting spheres of the Belarus-India bilateral cooperation. A project on joint movie production is being implemented. The work on the Belarusian-Indian movie Green Eyes is going on; another join project has recently been presented by an Indian film producer. The movie is expected to be shot in Belarus, the relevant agreement has already been reached with the Belarusian side, the diplomat noted.

Russian producers addressed the Indian Ambassador with a proposal to shoot Belarusian-Russian-Indian movies. They are interested in the trilateral cooperation. Belarusian, Russian and Indian actors will be invited to play in these movies. Polish producers applied to the diplomat with the same proposals.

“The preparation for the joint movie-making is naturally quite time-consuming, this is why it will take several years for joint movies to appear on the big screen,” Rajendra Kumar Tyagi said.
