OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2009. Dmitry Medvedev sent his condolences to President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari following a major terrorist attack in the city of Peshawar.

The President’s message reads, in part: “I was deeply saddened and disturbed to learn about the large-scale terrorist attack that occurred in Peshawar, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of completely innocent people.

I categorically condemn this barbarous act. Coordinated actions by terrorists once again show that the international community must intensify efforts to counter this threat. Russia is ready for full-scale cooperation in this area.

Mr President, please accept my sincere condolences following this tragedy in Peshawar. Please express my sympathy and compassion to the families and friends of the victims, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in this act of terrorism, unprecedented in its cruelty.”
